Heel Pain

Heel Pain / Heel Spurs / Arch Pain / Plantar Fasciitis

Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis including heel and arch pain, are the most common foot complaints anywhere in the world. Typically, people complain of sharp pain getting out of bed in the morning, bruising or aching type of pain on weight-bearing during the day, and is generally worse towards the end of the day or after exercise.

Poor biomechanics (structure and movement of your foot and leg) is usually the major cause to the problem. In general, people would experience some relief with conventional treatments such as wearing an orthotic device, ultrasound, shock-wave therapy, strapping, stretching, foot exercises, etc. However, we often see people experience little relief or recurring symptoms with the above treatments. This happens because the underlying biomechanical cause has not been addressed, causing repetitive stress on the plantar fascia. The treatment should therefore be focused on addressing the root cause of the problem rather than just dealing with the plantar fascia or the heel alone.

At Footwork Podiatry, we perform detailed examinations to find out the exact cause of your heel pain, and come up with an individualised treatment plan to not only relieve your symptom(s), but also address the biomechanical problems of your foot and ankle for long-lasting relief.
